Nima Sarkechik

Iran-France

Twenty-six year old Nima Sarkechik has already established himself as an extraordinary young talent; his musical maturity and remarkable technical skills have seduced his audience.

In 2003 he received an award from the Foundation of France, and a year later he won the first prize at the International Piano Competition of Rabat. In November 2005, the Foundation Natexis-Banque Populaire offered him a three years scholarship.

He was awarded the “Audience Prize” and “Jury’s Prize” in 2006 at the “Jeudis du Piano” competition in Geneva. At the same time, Culturesfrance selected Nima Sarkechik to take part to the programme “Déclic”, which ensures the promotion of young French soloists and chamber music players who have received awards from international competitions.

During the 2005-2006 season, Nima Sarkechik made his debut at the International Festival of Piano of La Roque d’Antheron and at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. He later performed recitals in many French festivals and venues (Festival de Radio-France, Orsay’s Museum, “Festival des Serres d’Auteuil”, “Festival d'Enghien”, “Festival du Grésivaudan”, Museum of Grenoble, Palais du Pharo in Marseille, Palais des Congrès in Ajaccio and Strasbourg…), as well as abroad : in Switzerland at the Saint Ursanne Festival, the « Musicales de Compesières » where he performed Mozart 11th  Piano Concerto with the Camerata Bellerive conducted by Gabor Takacs, at the “Radio de la Suisse Romande”; in Luxembourg (Neümunster Festival); Italy (CIMA Festival), Portugal (Açores Festival), in the USA (Lincoln Center at New York City), in Canada, Marocco and Turkey.

Considering his Iranian origins, Nima Sarkechik also performs traditional Persian music, and has appaered next to Persian masters of music (in New York City, London and Vancouver)

In April 2008, Nima Sarkechik has released for Zig-Zag Territoires/Harmonia Mundi and the  “Printemps des Arts” Festival of Monte-Carlo his first recording, a Chopin CD (Etudes op. 10, Ballades) including a tribute to Chopin composed by French composer Hugues Dufourt, which was awarded “5 Diapasons” and “4 Stars” by the music magazines “Diapason” and “Le Monde de la Musique”.

Nima Sarkechik studied with François-Frédéric Guy and Geroges Pludermacher at the Paris Conservatoire, where he graduated in 2005 (piano) and 2006 (chamber music).
